During SIA’s annual conference, the Circular Cotton Cascade project led by assocciate lecturer Karen Janssen won the audience award of the RAAK award. Of the six projects nominated by the jury, ‘CCC’ received the most (online) votes from the public.
Every year, Regieorgaan SIA awards a prize for the best practice-oriented research. With the award, SIA wants to make the research of universities of applied sciences better known. The award is presented in two categories: the jury prize and the public prize. The winner of the jury prize was the Diadema project, from Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences. They are researching methods that contribute to the preservation of coral reefs in the Caribbean, in particular by breeding sea urchins.
For the public award, online voting was possible during the past period for the 6 projects nominated by the jury. For this purpose, student reporters followed the projects and promoted them through social media. On behalf of BWNO, Marit Jansen went on the road for this campaign. The final votes for the public award were cast during the SIA congress, by the congress attendees. The research team of the Circular Cotton Cascade, including Karen Janssen, Robin Pereboom and Sanne van den Dungen, eventually received this award and congratulations.
